Join Us! Become a Trustee of PIRC Help us create stories for social change by joining our board.

The Public Interest Research Centre (PIRC) is seeking new trustees. We are particularly interested in folks with experience of fundraising, and of narrative/framing work.

About PIRC

PIRC works to support our movements—for equality, anti-oppression, and climate justice—to tell better stories for a more just world. We connect diverse groups, in participatory spaces, to share knowledge, develop strategies and strengthen movements. We carry out strategic research to support this work. And we create and openly share resources and tools for developing better strategy and communications. Our strategy (currently in the process of being refreshed) is Future Stories–helping to Democratise, Diversify and Deepen narrative change work in the UK.

We are based in beautiful Machynlleth, on the edge of the Snowdonia national park. We are a small charity, with five staff, and a flat management structure and pay scale. Every team member has input and decision-making power in directing the organisation.

The roles

We are recruiting new trustees, and are particularly interested in folks with skills in fundraising and narrative/framing work.

As Fundraising Lead Trustee, you’d be asked to provide advice and support to the Fundraising Lead staff on grant bids as well as ideally bringing ideas for new fundraising streams for the organisation. You can find more information about the role here.

As a narrative-focussed trustee you would support PIRC to deliver their core work, with advice, connections and support. You would play a key oversight role in the rolling out of our new strategy, the Narrative Leadership Development Programme, for communities with lived experience of the issues they are fighting to change.

How to apply

We are committed to providing equal opportunities for everyone regardless of their background. We acknowledge that people from certain backgrounds are under-represented in progressive movements and we’re committed to doing what we can to correct this. We are particularly keen to receive applications from Black people, Brown people and People of Colour; people with experience of migration or seeking asylum; Disabled People; people who identify as LGTBQIA+; people with mental health conditions; people who are part of a faith group; and people who identify as working class (or have done so in the past).
